Username cannot contain invalid characters – it had been very strange, if invalid characters would have been allowed, but what are valid characters, hah? Some should guess. And of course the boy they hired for $3 per hour somewhere near Ganga or Volga would not save the form you just have filled in.
btw. They say about username: "This will be ... part of your web site's URL address". Don't belive them – dot is not allowed symbol – mua-ha-ha.
